Black Feminist Thought and Resistance:
A Framework for Change
Black feminism leaves no one behind. We need the framework and practice of this intersectional and liberatory approach to fight fascism and build a new world.
Winnie Looby and Rachel Siegel will facilitate a workshop/book discussion group on Black Feminism. We are considering the work of Ida B Wells-Barnett, Ella Baker, Audre Lorde, bell hooks, Angela Davis, The Combahee River Women’s Collective, and more. It might be a discussion group on one specific book, a chronological survey of Black Feminist scholars and activists, or something else.
Details of content and dates are not yet set. We want you to help us decide! So we are hosting two focus groups.
The program will be on zoom and will have a sliding scale registration fee. Those are the things we know for sure so far!
If you are interested in helping shape the program (both the content and the structure), please join one of two study groups:
Sunday, Nov 22, 7:00-8:00pm
Weds, Nov 18, 12:00-1:00pm
“If Black women were free, it would mean that everyone else would have to be free since our freedom would necessitate the destruction of all the systems of oppression.”
